Our research focuses on the development of bio-inspired and bio-derived materials to meet unmet needs in treating and diagnosing disease. We strive to use chemistry and engineering approaches to iteratively design, synthesize, characterize, evaluate and validate next-generation biomaterials with the goal of making a translational impact on improving human health.

Individuals suffering from diabetes have numerous complications caused due to anarchy inside the human body and one of the mostly suffered section is healing of wounds. Another parallel problem in wound healing is associated with second or third degree burns, which has its own difficulty due to the loss of vasculature or nerve cells. Our research focus is the use of the naturally available biomaterials to augment one or multiple phases of the healing process. To achieve which, we try to formulate effective delivery systems for various pay loads that are essential in the wound bed but are cleaved owing to the predominance of proteases. We here also try to attain a solution to stalling wounds by regulating ligands or their receptors of various signaling pathways.
